Changemakers.net to Launch 'Sports for a Better World' Competition

Changemakers.net, the innovative and fast-growing "collaborative competitions" and social entrepreneurship initiative at Ashoka, will launch the "Sports for a Better World" competition in partnership with Nike in mid-September. This competition follows the successful "Disruptive Innovations in Health and Health Care," which received 308 innovative entries from 27 countries (in support of these results the Roberts Woods Johnson Foundation is providing up to $5 million to fund disruptive innovations in the United States).

Vote for Earth Force's GREEN Program

Earth Force has been named one of five finalists for an award presented by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Business Civic Leadership Center for their GREEN program. In partnership with General Motors, they engaged more than 9,500 young people in projects to protect the health of their local watersheds and increase their understanding of important scientific concepts.

Forum One Team Wins 5-year EPA Climate Change Contract

The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently awarded a contract for support on climate change initiatives, valued at up to $37 million over five years, to the team managed by ICF International, which includes Forum One as a web strategy and development partner. "Interest in climate change has soared recently in the U.S., and we expect EPA's policies and programs to expand and evolve rapidly over the next five years," said Randall Freed, an ICF senior vice president and climate change expert.

Online Community Metrics Report Published

Forum One's Director of Community and Research, Bill Johnston, completed the Online Community Metrics Survey in March of this year, and published it privately to our Online Community Research Network. The report covers:

  • Metrics options: a wide-ranging list of new and different metrics which respondents found valuable apart from the norm of page visits and unique visitors
  • Desired metrics: a valuable wish list that has been compiled by online community professionals for online community professionals
  • Tools for collecting metrics: a highlighted graph on data collected to see what the best services, tools and techniques are for collecting and analyzing online community data
  • Demonstrating ROI: quantifying the value of community efforts for management
  • Advice: top tips accumulated for community managers concerning best practice metrics

The OCRN is a subscription-based, collaborative research effort of online community professionals to better understand the challenges of building and managing online communities.

Forum One to Develop Web Content Strategy for EIA

Forum One is pleased to be starting a new project with the Energy Information Administration (EIA), Department of Energy. EIA is the leading provider of data and analysis about US energy issues, and thus a critical player on policy issues about the environment and climate change. Forum One will develop for EIA an enterprise web content strategy to guide its online efforts for the coming five years.
