Shining a light on your site's data

Is your organization sitting on a treasure trove of data and policy content? Are juicy data sitting fallow in dark, dusty corners of your organization's private file shares?
Many organizations are bringing their content and data into the light. They are enabling others to syndicate it, re-mix it, or republish it. In return, they enjoy increased prominence, attention, and influence.
For example, the District of Columbia now provides over 200 web feeds on topics ranging from child care to crime. NPR has announced a programming interface in which anyone can tap into its database of over a decade of stories. How did DC and NPR get senior management to sign-on? What results have they gotten? Should your organization consider similar approaches? How can you leverage others' data to create new services?
We'll address these questions and more at our next Web Executive Seminar at the National Press Club. We'll hear success stories from Andy Carvin of NPR, Vivek Kundra, CTO of the District of Columbia, Clay Johnson of Sunlight Labs, and David Stephenson, an expert advisor to government agencies sharing data online.
